BBC - NATIONAL PROTEST

Tuesday 4th April at lunchtime
The Stop the War Coalition is calling for protests outside BBC studios and offices accross the country, at lunchtime on Tuesday 4th April.
This is to respond to the BBC's failure to cover the huge troops home demonstration on March 18 on national news and also to protest the general pro-government bias of much of their reporting on the war.
We are asking groups to organise protests at every BBC office. We will be leafletting the offices with a copy of a letter addressed to Mark Thompson.
The main protest in London will be at Broadcasting House, Portland Place, near Oxford Circus tube at 1pm.
The protests were supported by a meeting of Media Workers Against the War at the National Union of Journalists last weekend.

A few days ago the world's most popular internet search engine, Google, has made a successful debut on the stock exchange... At the beginning of this summer we tried to place some ads on Google for our documentary. The phrase we used for our ads was “American Voices Against Bush.” The ads were immediately CENSORED by Google and our ad campaign terminated. Reason: "Google policy does not permit the advertisement of websites that contain language that advocates against an organisation or individual". We contacted a few journalists in the USA and in Europe. Google is a big name after all and we thought they could be interested in this story. Nobody answered! In this wilderness, only the NATIONAL COALITION AGAINST CENSORSHIP expressed its concerns with a letter to Mr. Eric Schmidt, Google's CEO. From this letter: "XXI CENTURY is critical of George W. Bush’s actions as President of the United States, which are certainly an issue of public concern and should be subject to discussion in any democracy. As President Theodore Roosevelt once stated, censoring “criticism of the President…is not only unpatriotic and servile, but morally treasonable to the American Public.”

The first thing we should do is forcing our governments to WITHDRAWING from Iraq, as You Spain did, teaching the world a wonderful lesson. Thank You, Spain.

The second thing is providing NOT AID but REPARATION for what our governments have done to this country and its people.

Finally, we should bring those responsible for political decisions to JUSTICE, applying to ourselves the same moral and legal standards we always demand from others.

"XXI CENTURY" opened the "BRUSSELLS TRIBUNAL" - Brussels, April 15, 2004

"PAX AMERICANA" - the seventh Part of "XXI CENTURY" - opened the "BRUSSELLS TRIBUNAL", a hearing committee composed of academics, intellectuals and artists in the tradition of the Russell Tribunal, set up in 1967 to investigate war crimes committed during the Vietnam War. It was presided by Professor François Houtart, one of the founding fathers of the World Social Forum in Porto Allegre. It was directed against the war in Iraq and the Imperial war policies of the Bush II administration. Its main focus was the ‘Project for the New American Century’, the think tank behind this war, in particular three of the co-signatories of the mission statement: Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz, as they are the physical link between the discourse and the brutal practice of the New Imperial World Order as designed by PNAC.
